Kenneth James Harvey, 60, passed away suddenly, November 2. Kenneth will always be remembered for his Good Samaritan acts of kindness and servants heart. He enjoyed helping people and spent his entire life doing good deeds for others. Kenneth retired in 2002 from the Georgia Department of Corrections with 25 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all. Surviving are his wife, Yvonne Harvey of Claxton; one son, Kenny (Crystal) Harvey of Savannah; one daughter, Kaley Harvey (John) Hisghman of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a twin brother, Keith Harvey of Cobbtown; one precious granddaughter, Ardyn Grace Harvey of Savannah; his mother-in-law, Marga Cowart of Claxton; God-children, Hudson and Monroe Collins of Columbia, S.C.; and several special nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 5, at 3 p.m., Eastside Baptist Church. Burial was in Rogers Baptist Church Cemetery, Collins, Ga. Pallbearers were Jerry Wiggins, Byron Nelson, Ray Todd, Bill Waters, Alan Groover and Billy Hendrix. Honorary pallbearers were Eric Sapp, Dean Cameron, David Greene, Andy Caraway and Bob Fisk. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Evans County, P.O. Box 201, Daisy, Ga. 30423, or The Evans County Christian Food Bank, P.O. Box 234, Claxton, Ga. 30417; two of Kenneth’s favorite charities. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
